Ways of Doing EMDR

Intensive EMDR

Intensive EMDR is a way of using EMDR as a path to resolving trauma or PTSD. Our brain sometimes gets stuck. A memory of something tragic or even just very upsetting keeps going around in our head.  I have found that often clients will have early experiences that their brain has not been able to resolve and the result is the experience of anxiety about ordinary things that should not be a source of worry. EMDR has been proven to enable us calm the mind by letting go of the triggering components of memory.

Adjunct EMDR

Another way of working with EMDR is as an add on to the work you are doing with your regular therapist. Adjunct therapy is a supplement to the primary therapy and is short term. It can assist the client when they are looping about a difficult memory or stuck in a negative belief system.

Flash Technique

The Flash Technique (FT) is a recently developed therapeutic intervention for reducing the disturbance associated with traumatic or other distressing memories. Unlike many conventional trauma therapy interventions, FT is a minimally intrusive option that does not require the client to consciously engage with the traumatic memory. This allows the client to process traumatic memories without feeling distress.
